Hey Guys!
I often get questions about my hair, how I got it so long, how I manage it, what I eat, etc. So today I'll be answering one of the questions- What I eat and don't eat to get my hair healthy. I have some tips that will really help (I don't follow all, but I'm still going to mention them).
But, before I get into what I do, I want to talk about one of the main reasons why we have unhealthy hair- low stomach acid. It is the cause of hair fall and other problems, this is because the acid in your stomach is preventing all the nutrients to reach your blood and then to your scalp. A healthy scalp = healthy hair.
What NOT to eat/do:
1. Junk Food: This causes excess gasses in the body.
2. Sugar (white): Eating natural sugars like honey, maple syrup, fruits, etc. is perfectly fine.
3. Dairy
4. Gluten
5. Don't eat on the go! I think most of us are guilty of doing this and its not a good habit because the food doesn't get digested properly.
6. Wearing tight cloths: This is really bad because you can't breath properly, wearing tight cloths pushes the acid up and it can lead to stomach cancer.
7. Dieting: This is like the biggest no-no! If you want healthy hair, you need nutrients for that and not eating will do the opposite. So don't you ever diet!
What you should eat:
1. Ginger Tea: Ginger is really good for you in general, but other than that ginger tea really helps cure heart burns. If you're going to drink it, lay off the milk and just add a little ginger (depending on how strong you want it) in hot water. You can add lemon juice and honey if you want. Drinking it this everyday is great.
2. Green Tea: As we all know green tea is amazing for us. It helps loose weight, but that's not the only thing its good for. Green tea actually helps in digesting and it strengthens your hair and nails.
3. Apple Cyder Vinegar: Having a tablespoon-full of this will really help in breaking the stomach acid. Have it just before your meal.
4. Coconut Oil: Yes, you can eat it! But don't eat the hair oil ok? If you can find the solid kind, then just take a tablespoon-full and swallow it. It is so amazing for your hair and nails. If you don't want to do this then melt it and put the oil on your hair (the solid is better than the hair oil). I personally just oil my hair with normal hair oil as I've never found the solid version of coconut oil in my city.
5. Hazelnut Butter: I know nutella is made of hazelnut but don't eat nutella thinking its the same as hazelnut butter. Nutella will make you fat! Anyways, hazelnut butter is very high in biotin which is a B7 acid responsible for breaking down proteins, fats, etc. And it's a great sub for nutella as it tastes almost the same! I don't actually eat the butter but I take a vitamin pill called Brewer's Yeast as a substitute for biotin.
6. Fruits: Ok, not everyone likes fruits, but they are so good and important for us! They provide natural sugars and so many vitamins that are important for us. So eat them, but never as dessert. That makes them loose all their properties. So eat them as a small meal or snack after work/school/an activity just to you get your fruit intake for the day.
Some things you can do while eating to help the digestion be faster and better:
1. Chew your food properly: Not chewing the food properly prevents the body from breaking down and properly absorbing the food and this can cause various issues. I am totally guilty of not doing this >.<
2. Before you eat, breath a few times and smell your food a little. Doing this gives a signal to the brain so that it can get ready and signal the stomach to prepare for digestion.
3. Drink lots of water. People always tell us to drink water as its so good for us! Water helps in flushing out all the toxins and helps us pooping better :'D which gets rid of excess waste so the waste can't build up into gas. I personally am really bad about drinking water.

Well that's all for today, hope it helps and I'll talk to you all soon!!
